Struggling to find an easy way to capture catch weight items, invoice them correctly, while maintaining the proper inventory balances? While there are manual ways to manage this, the effort is high and prone to human error.

Many of our catch weight or random weight clients have the following scenario: They create Sales Orders to customers by a case count, but want to invoice them by the pound when the product ships. Most ERP systems only support one UOM during the SO/Invoicing process, which leaves creates a large manual effort to covert the weights/cases for the Sales Order or on the invoice.

This also requires both the production team and the shipping team to track every single case weight to ensure your customer gets the correct amounts. Likewise, when mistakes inevitably happen in the manual process, they creates costly credit memos, returns, and additional time from your accounting team. ParityFactory best practices eliminate this manual process by capturing this data easily and accurately with barcoding scanning and, in some cases, integrated scales.

First, ParityFactory stores an estimated weight on each case, so that when Sales orders are imported from your ERP to our inventory system, we’re about to identify the cases ordered and do a simple calculation to get that estimated weight to be fulfilled. The shop floor team will then make labels for each catch weight case, capturing the weight via barcode scanners or integrated scales and GS1.

After the catch weight cases are made, palletized, and scanned to the shipment, we will automatically generate the invoice back to your ERP without any data entry. And here’s the critical part, and where the best practice comes into play: ParityFactory can create the invoice in pounds, so that you get the proper invoice amounts without any additional work from your sales team, production floor, or shipping team. Moreover, ParityFactory can print out detailed manifests with the click of a button so that your client can see every case and case weight that was sent to them.

Every operation is different, and each processor has slightly different needs around catch weight. Because we work with dozens of them, our system can handle each scenario.
