WinSPC Partners with Pet Food Manufacturer to Get SPC Solution Up and Running Across Heavily Monitored Plant

A pet foods company partnered with DataNet to launch a predictive real-time SPC program.

When it came time for implementation, DataNet’s well-experienced services team worked with the company to code, wire, and collaborate their way to a live, fully-connected, facility-wide pet food SPC production setup. Together, they successfully worked to integrate a near infrared collection system with WinSPC process improvement software.

The DataNet services team applied their experience to further connect the company’s measurement systems, connecting in-line checkweighers by crafting an originally designed-cable. The company weighs packaged pet food.

The company is using WinSPC’s alert capability to good effect. Significant colors flash on live control chart screens for three critical production phenomena. The colors flash when: a product is made out of spec, a product is made below target (underfill), and when a production process exceeds its maximum allowable variation (MAV).

The company’s manufacturing operations consist of extrusion and packaging where a whopping 70 measurement collection plans are used to capture critical production information.

The firm now has color-coded updates, knowledge of production problems, and a fully connected plant with live insight.
